Lily’s second birthday snaps

October 29, 2012

I still consider myself a novice at kids party planning but I didn’t think DH and I did a bad job considering we did it pretty last minute. I actually thought it was more of a success than the first birthday party as we were more prepared with what food would work and what to pack etc – i.e. home made pizzas become a nightmare when you are fighting over the one oven to also bake cupcakes!

Anyway, Lily had a great time and even made amends with her friend from her first birthday (there was a biting incident last year). And despite all the flies (where did they all come from?) I was glad the storm quickly passed and it was great catching up with friends.

What do you think of kid’s birthday parties? Do you like planning them?

I think one of the reasons for why I want more than 2 kids is that I get to organise more parties! Love it all – theming, decorating, cooking, baking. Lily’s birthday looked gorgeous. Congrats on her 2nd year!

Thank you! Yes, parties can be really fun to plan. I still have a lot to learn though!

Two! Feels like just yesterday I was reading about your labour…!! Has it really been two years…?!
What a beautiful grown up little girl you’ve got there! Love her dress!

All the party stuff looks awesome, would never have guessed in a million years that it was a last minute effort.. Such great attention to detail..

After Bays 1st birthday I vowed no more kids parties until she was 6! But in hindsight her party was more of a celebration for the adults (Yay we survived the 1st year!) being up north we hadn’t seen so many friends and family since she was born so there were 50 adults and about 20 kids and it got pretty hectic! so perhaps I might try a teeny tiny proper kids party for her 2nd birthday… Would love to hear any other kids party tips you may have!

Thanks DD! Lily’s dress is from Rock my Baby…

Bay’s first birthday sounded like planning a wedding with all the people! I didn’t want a big party because I was too busy to organise something where I would only get a chance to talk to people for 5 minutes.

You should definitely give the ‘kid’s party’ another go – this time with smaller numbers. And a two year old has a LOT more fun than a one year old as they definitely know it’s their special day!
