Snapshots from Koh Samui – Part 2

April 9, 2012

Here are some snapshots of the wedding we went to in Koh Samui. It was a very intimate wedding (47 guests) and was set in a private villa (they hired the entire place) so it felt very special and exclusive. Some of my favourite moments/highlights were:

  • The bridesmaid (bride’s sister) gave a heartfelt speech about a conversation she had with her sister about taking the next step in life and being independent (i.e. moving out, supporting yourself etc). At the time the bridemaid was living in London and the bride was still in Perth. That night as they were laying in their bedrooms, the bride passed a note under her sister’s note basically explaining how she appreciated her sister’s advice and not only that but she was going to prove to everyone that she could make it on her own and decided that she was going to London too. She stayed for five years and met her future husband and like they say the rest is history. The bridesmaid even produced the actual note during her speech!
  • I know it’s everywhere on YouTube but it was still entertaining to see the bridal party do a dance-off.
  • Lily failed big time as a flowergirl as she threw a major tantrum and didn’t make it down the aisle. The humidity was getting to her and she became impatient.
  • The bride was up on the dance floor ALL night. She didn’t miss a single song!
  • There was an awesome infinity pool so most of the guests had a dip towards the end of the night.

I’m a big sucker of destination weddings as it’s hard to beat the party vibe when everyone is on holiday. Plus I got married in Koh Samui too so it was great to return and be a guest this time. The bride and groom also organised babysitters at the reception location which was a fantastic idea as I could pop in to see how Lily was doing.

Have you been to a destination wedding?

Love it! The sailor and I honeymooned in Koh Samui. It is the most perfect destination for Romance, that is when you are not in Paris

Looks beautiful! Pity about the flower girl incident but Lily looked gorgeous in her little dress regardless. I hope you guys had a nice Easter break šŸ™‚ Sal x

Roberta – Yes, I agree that Paris is very romantic. I end up eating way to much in France and Thailand though šŸ˜¦

Sal – Thanks Sal! Hope you had a good easter too šŸ™‚

Sounds and looks like a fabulous wedding. Lily looks gorgeous in her dress (how lovely that it wasn’t a typical frou frou flowergirl dress) and the flowers in her hair are stunning. Doesn’t matter that she didn’t make it down the aisle – the humidity in Thailand made me super grumpy and I’m much bigger šŸ˜‰
