Handmade markets

July 16, 2011

I love handmade items. And since I’m a big failure when it comes to anything which involves a needle and a thread, I appreciate the creativity, talent and effort which is all part of the process of creating something special.

Last weekend I went to the ‘Made in the Left’ market (held in the Perth CBD), which specialises in all things handmade, and had to squeeze my way through hundreds of people just to get a glimpse of the goodies. I managed to pick up the below singlet and pants made by ‘Matsy Designs’ for Lily.

With the many sales going on at the moment at Big W, Kmart, Toys R Us etc, I think it’s easy to forget all the quality and unique things made by so many local and talented people.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

I was annoyed I missed the markets. I’m happy for the retailers that they’re getting so popular but I miss the old days when it was easy to move from table to table slowly taking it all in 😦

I know!! LIke with the Upmarket, it’s a snail pace to go from one table to another! But then again I was at the Myer toy sale and that took me nearly half an hour to just pay for one toy!

Can’t wait til it’s warm enough to put cute little ruffly bottoms like that on Eve.

love the little outfit – the colours are so summery! totally agree about handmade! my mil can sew and knit really well but hasn’t made anything for miss s as she thinks you can buy “prettier” stuff from shops. I do NOT agree, I love the LOVE in handmade items:)
